Semi-rural large garden in Andover, North Hampshire.
This garden is very large, long and split into two. The area immediately outside the house is laid to lawn with some fruit trees and a meandering path leading to the larger back garden. This is also laid to lawn and the perimeter is surrounded by extremely large Thuja trees. The owners wanted a garden that had a water feature, easy maintenance but good for wildlife and still retained some lawn as they play Badminton as a family.
We designed a meandering stream leading to the sitting area next to the dry garden passing in front of the rose arbour which is joined to the other side by a small bridge. The large rectangle is cut into 2 smaller ones on the bias, this gives interest to the garden and dynamism. The rectangles are bordered with ground cover, small to medium shrubs and trees such as Kousa chinensis.
Designed in 2009, the garden will include over 3000 bulbs and will be implemented in the Spring of 2010.
