Submissions
Submitting an article or a blog to Francoise Murat + Associate for inclusion into our blog/E-news
What‘s it all about?
I send out a bi-monthly Newsletter dedicated to all things interiors, gardens, food, books, lifestyle, design, art, architecture. Basically we look at the inside and outside of our daily life. Eco but not loco we look at sustainability but with an accessible slant. We share and promote good practices in all fields that look at our homes, outside spaces and work. We are an eclectic mix of fun, form, function, aesthetics in a no fuss , achievable, accessible manner to one and all. But we do not think that being green, eclectic and straddling historic and the strikingly contemporary means we need to wear flowers in our hair and eat lentils (although we love both!). Design should be accessible to all and need not cost the earth or a fortune.
Who reads us?
Our e-news goes out to over 11,000 subscribers and our list increasing by almost 100 subscribers each month and increasing. Our readers are passionate lifestyle gardeners, interiors aficionados, magazine publishers and editors. Geographically spread out all over the UK.
How do we spread the word?
We use social media – alot! This blog resides on our website here . We’re live on Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and FaceBook and we also syndicate many of our more researched report and articles. We aim to spread the word and we hope you will too. After all the more you share the more you get.
We also write for Sarah Beeny’s Property website TEPILO where we have our own page and we write about interiors and gardens. All this with a bit of a slant towards helping people sell their homes but it’s not prescriptive. We have “carte blanche”. So we often feature people we have met and showcase them.
We also write about historic properties and gardens for the Country Life online blogs on a regular basis. Again we often feature people we have met and showcase them here too when appropriate.
What you can submit for inclusion?
With that in mind, we would love to showcase you to our readers. We are always looking for passionate people with something to say about any of the subjects above. But it cannot be an advertorial or publicity or a press release. It is better to showcase your knowledge with our subscribers.
You can however tell us about a new piece of work and the story behind it, perhaps a new project that has gained attention, something you are working on.
Articles must be well written and grammatically correct, they will be checked but mistakes are down to you.
You are welcome to submit an article no longer than 1200 words to us. Written in a simple font such as Arial, font size 11 points in Word or plain text ONLY. Any links in the article must be inserted within the article as well as listed at the bottom, all links will be checked.
Include a picture of you and what you are blogging about – people buy from people. As well as a selection of minimum 6 high res pictures in jpeg format, (maximum 10 pictures) of your work/product/what you are talking about with a description. Attach these separately with your email not within the body of the interview. The pictures must be copyrighted to you or you must have express permission to use them- we will ask for confirmation in writing and you must send this with your interview. We are picture led but if you are struggling with photos we can help- we have a huge library of our own pictures. If we use our own pictures, these are copyrighted to us and you must ask permission to re-use.
Copyright of the pictures you send remains with you as well as copyright of the blog/article. We only however accept first issues and do not accept articles or blogs issued on other online media or paper media. If you re-use the blog/article we must be informed and all credit must be given where it was first published. All credits must be given where credit is due!
If you have an event coming up, a workshop, a new product coming out, etc… Please specify details with date etc… We will aim to include it for you.
Please do not send article/interviews back which are disrespectful, offensive or with expletives. Life is hard enough as it is – we want to send positive vibes!
The decision to use your article/blog or not remains with us and our decision is final. It has to fit in with our readership demographics. But we are broad church and as we said we are eclectic so we may tweak a few bits here and there. If we do, we will send you the re-written version first for approval before publishing.
When we publish
We publish on the 1st Thursday of each month and the 3rd Friday of each month. It’s not set in stone but that’s the editorial planning we aim to follow.
So any blogs and articles must be sent 2 weeks prior to each date. If you miss submission we will aim to put it in for next issue but we have a tight editorial schedule so its first come first served.
We do not pay for any articles or blogs or submissions. You submit your article or blog willingly and freely.
I reserve the right not to use any of the information you send in and the decision is final.
