Ceci et cela

I am a degree qualified Interior Designer & Landscape Designer based in London and Hampshire. I always say I am Eco but not Loco! Only because I am a fervent advocate of using as little as possible, re-using, re-cycling and re-interpreting but sometimes either the technology is not there or my clients just don’t want to – money, time, plain not interested!

I  hate greenwash and before I can commit to anything by putting it in print I do alot of research – and many a times I still don’t get an answer! It’s an on-going process, every day, all the time.

As some of you already know if we chat on Twitter  I am passionate about Architectural Salvage and Antiques – our house is full of the stuff! I love mixing old and new and I do this rather successfully with clients. I have starting to blog on a regular basis for SalvoNews on case studies of using architectural antiques for the new century. They will be my own projects as well as other people’s. I started this in November 2011.

 For work I specialise in:

  • Architectural interior design for domestic clients, bars and restaurants
  • Garden design service for the domestic market, property developments and urban landscapes  Francoise Murat and Sarah Beeny
But you can always visit my website if you want to know more .

Why not subscribe to my monthly newsletter? It’s full of original tips and ideas about interiors and gardens that are easy to follow and implement. Subscribe to my twice monthly Newsletter and receive a FREE guide “Can’t sell improve!” for savvy improvements that will help you sell or freshen up your house right HERE.

I have written a number of articles for Country Life on period Interiors and Gardens.  I also BLOG every week for Sarah Beeny on her property website www.tepilo.com on all things Interiors and Gardens.

I also run one day workshops on Interior Design and Growing Vegetables for beginners in London and Hampshire and special one day workshops for period properties and historical houses and gardens. This year we are also doing one day courses for refurbishing and building a Healthy Home (Eco materials, processes and do’s and don’ts).

So what do I talk about and what do some of my guests bloggers talk about?Well I do like sharing and I think it’s important to get us to be a more collaborative society. So I often have other designers featured in my newsletters amongst an eclectic array of anything that takes my fancy frankly!  This is not really a “fluffy” design website. more a practical how to and sharing what I find.

So we do talk alot about Gardens in “ Garden Design“ : visiting nice ones, not so nice ones, commenting on styles, designers, history and new stuff. Plants get a big look in but  especially fruit and vegetables – so I have a historical “Star Fruit or Veg” blog every month. Exhibitions, festivals, old and new – it’s vast and eclectic.

Same goes for the ” Interiors Design ” : new trends, old trends, historical research on Passementerie, to the history of Interior Styles, ‘how to’ advice and tips and ideas, eco materials and processes, design elements and much more.

We talk about seasonal food and recipes to help you make the most of the fruit & veg on offer in the Potager as well as how to tend to your bountiful plot!

Interviews : quick fire Q&A with interesting people I meet on my travels, on Twitter, on Google+, Facebook or LinkedIn. From food bloggers to patchworked chairs – as long as they are interesting, they get prodded and searched – in the nicest possible way!

I review books on Gardens, gardening, food, cooking, interiors, history, historic buildings, art….the list goes on I’m afraid. I have always been a voracious reader and my “péché mignon” is buying a huge amount of books - always do and always have done and probably always will!

I will be  starting a Questions & Answers clinic for Interiors and Gardens – this will probably start in March and will be based around a theme (kitchen, bathroom, decking, lawns, growing veg in pots, etc….). It will be online where you can write in as well as by Webinar where you can listen in and participate. Watch this space :)

Anyway – I hope you enjoy.
